INFORMATION ON THE USE OF COOKIES

1. WHAT IS A COOKIE AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Cookies were created in 1994 by Lou Montulli, an employee of Netscape, to solve problems concerning the limitations of identifying computers connected to a web page. Without cookies, sites cannot know whether two requests come from the same device, so they need to be labelled.

Cookies are saved on the hard disk or in the memory of the visitor’s computer. A cookie is a small file that is sent from a web server (which is the computer on which the website you are visiting is running) to your browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and saved on your device when you visit a website such as Liana Carpenteria. Cookies allow the site to function efficiently and improve its performance, they also give information to the owner of Liana Carpenteria for statistical or advertising purposes, mainly to personalise your browsing experience by remembering your preferences and navigation methods.

The cookie can be likened to a purely personal identification card, the purpose of which is to tell Liana Carpenteria when you return. Many websites, including www.lianacarpenteria.it (the ‘Site’), make use of them. Cookies tell us how often you visit pages, and this helps us understand what information may be of interest to visitors. In this way, we can offer more content that is of interest to a specific behaviour and less that may not be of interest to you. Cookies help us to be more efficient and store user preferences and names, register products and services and personalise pages.

Cookies do not collect information that directly identifies the user. In fact, Liana Carpenteria cannot use cookies to retrieve any directly identifiable personal information (e.g. name, surname) unless provided directly by the user. Moreover, another website cannot use a cookie issued by the Site to access other information contained in the user’s computer. Once saved on your computer, the cookie can only be read by the website that created it (and therefore, in our case, by www.lianacarpenteria.it). In practice, if you do not subscribe to the Site and do not enter any personal information, the only thing the server knows is that someone with that cookie has visited us again. Nothing else.

Cookies can be “session” cookies (when they are memorised exclusively for the duration of the site navigation session and are deleted when the browser is closed), or “permanent” (they are memorised for a longer time, until they expire or are deleted by the user).

Liana Carpenteria protects the confidentiality of personal data and guarantees them the necessary protection from any event that may put them at risk of being breached.

As provided for by the EU Regulation 2016/679 and by the current legislation on the processing of personal data, the user (“Data Subject”) is provided with information regarding so-called “cookies”.

2. TYPES OF COOKIES

Different types of cookies and related technologies may be used, each of which has a specific function.

In order to optimise the use of the site and its full functionality, your computer, tablet or mobile device must accept certain types of cookies considered necessary. Our notice on the use of cookies provides information on the type of cookies used and how they can be managed, controlled and deleted.

We would like to specify that cookies do not harm your device.

Necessary (technical) cookies
From the first time you log in these cookies enable the site to function correctly and allow you to view content on your device by recognising the language and market of the country you have chosen to log in from. If you are, for example, a registered user, they allow recognition and access to the services offered in the dedicated areas. The navigation cookies are technical cookies and are necessary for the site to function.

These cookies are usually temporary, so-called “session cookies”, and are issued by the Site on the user’s computer during navigation, but are only stored for the duration of the navigation session itself. This means that when the user closes his browser the cookies are automatically deleted and disappear, without remaining stored on the computer. They consist of random numbers generated by the server and serve to enable the safe and efficient exploration of the Site. Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the proper functioning of the Website. This category only includes cookies that ensure the basic functionality and security features of the website. These cookies do not store any personal information.

The use of technical cookies and the performance of processing related to them does not require the user’s consent. The legal basis for processing the related data is the performance of services requested directly by the data subject (Art. 6.1, b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 – ‘GDPR’).

Functional Cookies
These cookies allow, based on your expressed request, to facilitate the user’s navigation within the Site, for example by recognising you at subsequent logins so that you do not have to enter your data each time you visit (e.g. ‘recognise me next time’, so-called authentication cookies). Functional cookies help perform certain functionalities such as sharing website content on social media platforms, collecting feedback and other third-party features.

Functional cookies are not indispensable for the functioning of the site, but they improve the quality and experience of navigation. However, as these cookies are installed in response to services requested directly by the user, they do not require the user’s consent. For this reason, they may be treated in the same way as technical cookies.

Performance cookies

Performance cookies are used to understand and analyse key performance indicators of the website which helps to provide a better user experience for visitors.

Analytical Cookies

Analytical cookies are used to understand how visitors interact with the website. These cookies help provide information on metrics such as visitor numbers, bounce rate, source of traffic, etc.

Social Network Cookies
These cookies are necessary to allow your social account to interact with the Site. They are used, for example, to let you express your appreciation and share it with your social friends. Social network cookies are not necessary for browsing. This specific type of service allows you to activate interactions with social networks or other external platforms directly from the pages of the Site. It is understood that the processing of personal data collected through these services, by the relevant social networks, is exclusively subject to the privacy settings selected by each user for their account on the specific platform.
